Jeff Loring, CFP®, CLTC, CRPS®

Founder, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner

As an entrepreneur, Jeff is passionate about working with business owners to manage their personal finances as well as their company retirement plans. He knows the intricacies of running a small business, and his specialized knowledge and expertise in investments, credit, and insurance are specific to small business situations.

Jeff’s practice focuses on assisting high-net-worth individuals and business owners to develop comprehensive investment, insurance, and retirement planning strategies to meet their short- and long-term financial objectives. In his own words, Jeff “helps people retire successfully.” We help our clients determine what success means to them and then come up with a financial plan to support their vision.

Jeff started his career in the property/casualty insurance industry in 1979 and transitioned to finance 15 years later after enrolling in the College of Financial Planning to better understand how to invest in his own 401(k). After just a few courses, Jeff found his calling and knew he wanted to be a financial advisor for the rest of his working career.

After several years with the firm that is now known as Ameriprise, he started Loring Financial Planning & Investments in 1996 to better serve clients as an independent, fee-based financial advisor.

1The 2019 ranking of the Forbes’ Best-in-State Wealth Advisors* list was developed by SHOOK Research and is based on in-person and telephone due-diligence meetings to evaluate each advisor qualitatively and on a ranking algorithm that includes client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations, and quantitative criteria (including assets under management and revenue generated for their firms). Overall, 30,000 advisors were considered, and 3,500 (11.6 percent of candidates) were recognized. The full methodology** that Forbes developed in partnership with SHOOK Research is available here.

*This recognition and the due-diligence process conducted are not indicative of the advisor's future performance. Your experience may vary. Winners are organized by state. Some states may have more advisors than others. You are encouraged to conduct your own research to determine if the advisor is right for you.

**SHOOK does not receive a fee in exchange for rankings.

2Based on 10 objective eligibility and evaluation criteria, including a minimum of five years as an active credentialed financial professional, favorable regulatory and complaint history, accepts new clients, client retention rates, client assets administered, education, and professional designations. 624 Rhode Island wealth managers were considered for the award; 151 (24% of candidates) were named 2021 Five Star Wealth Managers. (The criteria provided reflects the most recent year for which the advisor received the award. The criteria used, the number of wealth managers considered for the award, and the percentage of those who receive the award may vary from year to year.)
